Hi! I'm Ryan Yin, a rising sophomore at the University of Illinois. I'm mainly interested in computer and network security, but I'm interested in a lot of different areas of computer science, from theory to machine learning to human-computer interaction and beyond!

At the University of Illinois, I'm a Admin and Embedded Lead in SIGPwny, a student organization dedicated to security and privacy. I've presented on topics such as SSRF and cryptography. As an Embedded Lead, I lead a subteam of Embedded Team (SIGPwny's team for embedded system security) members on an aspect of our Embedded Capture the Flag (eCTF) performance, ranging from defense to attack. In 2026, I led the compiler security subteam, developing several security mitigations with LLVM, including a shadow stack and stack zeroization. I also designed a system to punish voltage glitching. We placed 4th worldwide this year!

I'm also an Exec Board Intern of the Hong Kong Student Association at the University of Illinois. I'm joining the Event Committee (and possibly Fundraising) next year!

Outside of school, I enjoy playing badminton, chess, and reading.
